Texas School Tragedy
Dear SCSD Families and Staff:
On behalf of the Stanwood-Camano School District, our thoughts today are with the community of Uvalde, Texas, and to the staff, students, and families of Robb Elementary School. It’s difficult to comprehend the motivation for this horrific attack.
We have worked as a district team to develop our building emergency preparedness plans. Our plans have been developed in coordination with our local first responders. We have practiced and trained to respond with confidence and are grateful for the service of our School Resource Officer.
For a complete list of our safety measures, please visit our Safety and Wellness page on our website.
Adults can help children feel safe by establishing a sense of normalcy and security and talking with them about their fears. The National Association of School Psychologists has excellent resources for talking to your children about violence HERE.

Coping with Violence
We recognize this event may be incredibly traumatizing for school-based staff. If you need support at this time, please reach out to a colleague or take advantage of our Employee Assistance Program; it is important that each of us pay attention to our wellness. We also must pull together as a school community to support one another.
The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority. It takes parents, students, staff, and the community to keep schools safe places to learn. Thank you for your continuing support of our schools.
Respectfully,
Stanwood-Camano School District Board of Directors
Dr. Deborah Rumbaugh, Superintendent
