New CTE option

We're partnering with Sno-Isle TECH to expand CTE offerings

Stanwood-Camano School District already offers a comprehensive Career and Technical Education (CTE) program that allows students the chance to explore a variety of career options, supports academic and life skills, and enables achievement for industry-defined work.

Now, Stanwood-Camano School District is excited to announce that we're partnering with the Sno-Isle Technical Skills Center starting next school year. The Stanwood-Camano School Board approved the agreement during its meeting Tuesday, Nov. 21.

This is an opportunity for students to build on the skills learned in their CTE classes at Stanwood High School and receive training in specialized programs not offered in our district.

“We are thrilled to announce this partnership,” district CTE director Ross Short said. “This collaboration will allow us to expand our program offerings and provide even more opportunities for our students to develop the skills they need to succeed in today’s local workforce.”

Sno-Isle Technical Skills Center, located near Paine Field in Everett, is a cooperative effort of local school districts. It provides preparatory training, certification, and post-secondary credit to students, who can then choose to continue their education, go straight to work, or both.

The goal of CTE classes is for students to be well-prepared for high-wage, high-demand, and high-skill careers. Last year, there were more than 1,100 students enrolled in CTE classes at Stanwood High. Many seniors graduated straight into the workforce on paths for high-paying, in-demand careers in the local area.

“By working together, we can open up more doors to more students and help them reach their full potential,” Short said.
