Fee Reductions, Waivers & Resources

Benefits

More than just Free & Reduced Meals

There are programs within the Stanwood Camano School District and in the community that offer reductions in or waivers of fees and other benefits for families who qualify for the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs.

In most cases, they will require proof of benefits. Proof of benefits — in the form of a letter — is sent to the primary guardian on file at the time of qualification. The primary guardian will either receive the letter via email (if you have a current email attached to your student's primary guardian's contact information) or through the mail. Letters are also available through Skyward Family Access. This letter will serve as proof of benefits for most programs.

It is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to share the letter. We will, upon request, send another letter via email, mail, or provide one in-person to the primary guardian on file.

Some of the additional benefits for students and families listed below include:

  • Reduced fees for school sports

  • Discounts on their Snohomish PUD bills

  • Discounts on YMCA membership and program fees

  • Discounts on fifth-grade camp costs

  • Access to Operation School Bell, which provides new clothing to students

Reduced fees for school sports

Due to the rising costs associated with the Stanwood-Camano School District's athletic programs — and statewide educational budget reductions — the district has approved an Athletics Participation Fee. The fee must be paid when the athlete makes the team and before the first competition.

Parents of students who qualify for the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and have a current application on file with the district office are eligible for a free or reduced athletic participation fee.

A copy of the Notice of Eligibility for Free or Reduced-Price Meals OR a print-out from Skyward Family Access must be provided by the guardian and given to the athletic department, in order to take advantage of either the free or reduced-price athletic fee. Applications for the NSLP are available online, at all schools, and the district office. Parents are responsible for completing and submitting the required paperwork.

Snohomish County PUD Discount

Instead of going through a traditional income verification process, Snohomish County PUD customers can simply complete an application and provide a copy of their approval letter from the Stanwood-Camano School District and they will qualify for a 25% (reduced lunch) or 50% (free lunch) discount on their PUD bills.

No other income documentation is required.

Discount applications can be found here in English and Spanish.

YMCA discount

Teens and children ages 11-18 on the Free & Reduced Meals program can receive a discounted membership. If you are eligible for:

  • Free or Reduced Meals — You qualify for a YMCA membership for $35 a year.

Please complete the Teen Membership Eligibility form below, and bring the completed form with a copy of your Free & Reduced Eligibility letter to the YMCA!

Operation School Bell

Operation School Bell provides clothing to students who demonstrate financial need and attend school regularly (see more in video below).

Your child's school will arrange transportation to the Operation School Bell facility where your child will be fitted with new school clothing. Follow the link below for an application and for more information about the program.

Clothes for Kids

Clothes For Kids is a free clothing resource for students who qualify to receive Free & Reduced Meals at our schools.

Families need to schedule an appointment for each student shopper: https://clothesforkids.org/book-an-appointment/.

If families are unable to shop in-person, volunteers can choose clothing for the students and have it available for pick up at the Clothes For Kids shop within one week. Anyone can pick the clothes up on behalf of the student.

To order clothing for pick-up, please complete this form for each student: https://loom.ly/psFuWhE
